Following breakfast, depart from Cusco with your guide from Auki Cusco Explorers to discover some of the Sacred Valley’s most remarkable cultural attractions before continuing your journey toward Machu Picchu.
The first destination is Chinchero, a traditional Andean village renowned for its rich textile heritage and vibrant local culture. Here you will visit the artisan market and learn about ancestral weaving techniques that have been preserved for generations.
Next, continue to the fascinating archaeological site of Moray, famous for its impressive circular terraces. Believed to have functioned as an agricultural experimentation center during the Inca Empire, the different terrace levels create unique microclimates that allowed the Incas to test and cultivate a wide variety of crops.
Your journey continues to the remarkable Maras Salt Mines, where thousands of individual salt pools cover the mountainside. Local families have harvested salt here using traditional techniques since pre-Inca times, producing the region’s famous naturally mineral-rich pink salt.
After completing the morning excursions, travel to Ollantaytambo Train Station, where you will board the afternoon Vistadome Train bound for Aguas Calientes.
Upon arrival, a representative will accompany you to your hotel. The remainder of the afternoon is free to explore the charming town, browse local shops, relax in the thermal baths or visit the Manuel Chávez Ballón Museum.
