Experience one of the most spectacular journeys to Machu Picchu aboard the Vistadome Observatory, a premium panoramic train designed to make the journey as unforgettable as the destination itself. Large panoramic windows, an open-air observation carriage, live Andean music and dance performances, complimentary snacks and beverages, and an interpretive audio tour allow travelers to fully immerse themselves in the breathtaking scenery of the Sacred Valley.
Travel through picturesque valleys, snow-capped mountains, rivers and cloud forest before arriving in Aguas Calientes, the gateway to the Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu. From there, board the shuttle bus to the Lost City of the Incas, where an expert guide will accompany you through one of the world’s most extraordinary archaeological sites.
Itinerary
Your adventure begins early in the morning with pickup from your hotel in Cusco. Depending on the selected departure and operating schedule, you will be transferred to Wanchaq, San Pedro or Ollantaytambo station to board the PeruRail Vistadome Observatory train.
As the train leaves Cusco behind, you’ll enjoy spectacular panoramic views of the Sacred Valley. Throughout the journey, wide glass windows and the exclusive observation carriage provide uninterrupted views of rivers, mountains, agricultural terraces and traditional Andean communities.
During the trip you will enjoy:
- Live Andean music
- Traditional dance performances
- Complimentary snacks and beverages
- Audio-guided interpretation of the route
- Access to the open-air Observatory Car
On selected daytime departures, the bimodal service may include a short scenic stop at Huaypo Lagoon, where passengers can appreciate the surrounding glaciers, native flora and local wildlife (subject to weather and operational conditions).
Upon arrival at Aguas Calientes, your professional guide will meet you at the train station. After a brief break, you’ll board the shuttle bus for approximately 30 minutes to the entrance of Machu Picchu.
Inside the Historic Sanctuary, enjoy a guided tour of approximately two and a half hours covering the principal archaeological sectors, ceremonial temples, agricultural terraces and the most iconic viewpoints of the Inca Citadel.
After the guided visit, you’ll return by shuttle bus to Aguas Calientes where you’ll have free time to relax, have lunch or explore the town before boarding your return Vistadome Observatory train.
The return journey continues with the same premium onboard experience, allowing you to enjoy the Andean landscape one last time before arriving back in Cusco, where private transportation will take you to your hotel.
