Itinerary
Day 1: Horseback Riding Adventure to Cusco's Archaeological Treasures
Your experience begins with a convenient pickup from your hotel in Cusco, either in the morning or afternoon, depending on your preference.
Travel by private transportation to the historic ranch near the Sacsayhuamán Archaeological Park, where your horse and guide await.
Upon arrival, meet your well-trained Peruvian Paso or Criollo horse and receive a complete safety briefing covering:
-
Basic riding techniques.
-
Communication with your horse.
-
Safety equipment and posture.
-
Route instructions and trail etiquette.
After a short practice session to build confidence and trust with your horse, begin your scenic ride through the spectacular highland landscapes surrounding Cusco.
Ride along ancient Inca trails and dirt paths surrounded by grazing llamas, alpacas, and sweeping views of the Cusco Valley and the Andes mountains.
Depending on the selected route, you will visit some or all of the following sacred sites:
-
Sacsayhuamán: Marvel at the massive zigzag stone walls and panoramic views over Cusco city.
-
Qenqo: Explore the carved stone alleys and ceremonial altar of this mystical huaca.
-
Puka Pukara: Ride past the “Red Fort,” a strategic Inca outpost with stunning defensive views.
-
Tambomachay: Admire the beautiful water fountains and purification terraces, a place of Inca rituals and spiritual cleansing.
-
Temple of the Moon (Q’orikancha Chico): Discover the hidden lunar sanctuary nestled in the hills, a lesser-known gem of Andean cosmology.
Throughout the ride, your professional bilingual guide shares fascinating insights into Inca history, Andean spirituality, and the cultural significance of each site.
After completing the horseback portion, enjoy a short guided walk to explore the archaeological sites up close, taking photographs and soaking in the ancient energy of these sacred places.
