Discover one of Peru’s most spectacular natural attractions on this unforgettable full-day adventure to Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca). Located high in the Peruvian Andes, this breathtaking destination is famous for its vibrant mineral-colored slopes, created naturally over millions of years through geological processes.

Travel through picturesque Andean valleys, traditional villages and stunning mountain landscapes before beginning a rewarding hike to one of the country’s most iconic viewpoints. Along the way, observe herds of alpacas and llamas, snow-capped peaks, and the impressive Ausangate Mountain, considered one of the most sacred mountains in Inca culture.

Accompanied by experienced local guides, this tour offers an incredible opportunity to experience the natural beauty, culture and high-altitude landscapes that make the Cusco region one of the world’s premier travel destinations.

Itinerary

Your adventure begins very early in the morning with pickup from your hotel in Cusco.

Travel for approximately two hours through the scenic South Valley until reaching the village of Cusipata, where you’ll enjoy a traditional Andean breakfast.

After breakfast, continue by vehicle to the trailhead at Phulawasipata, where the hiking adventure begins.

The hike lasts approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, gradually ascending through breathtaking high-Andean landscapes surrounded by colorful valleys, grazing alpacas and llamas, and spectacular views of the snow-capped Ausangate Mountain.

Upon reaching the famous Rainbow Mountain viewpoint, you’ll have plenty of time to admire the extraordinary natural colors, take photographs and appreciate one of Peru’s most impressive geological formations.

Your guide will explain the geological origin of the mountain, the significance of the surrounding landscapes, and the importance of Ausangate in Andean culture.

After enjoying the summit, begin the descent along the same trail to the transportation point.

Return to Cusipata for a delicious buffet lunch before traveling back to Cusco, arriving in the late afternoon.
